Humans are adults, or animals is one that has grown to its full potential. In the context of humans, the term "adult" can have meanings that are related to legal or social concepts. Legal adult means a person attains the age of maturity and can be considered autonomous, self-sufficient, and responsible. They may also be regarded as an "major". The typical age of attaining the legal age of adulthood is 18 but the definition can vary based on the legal rights of the country and the level of development in psychological terms.

The age of adulthood marks the point in the human lifespan when the person is at maturation in both physical and mental growth. The majority of people believe that adulthood starts at 20 years or older. Then, after middle age (starting around age 40) is the time to reach the age of old age (around the age of 60). The beginning of adulthood occurs between the years of between 18 to 30. The middle age stage begins from the mid-30s through to the 60s. The transition to late adulthood begins around the mid-60s. The physical maturation process is complete at the point we are in our early adulthood (20-40s) but the weight and height may be a little higher. The physical abilities of our bodies are at their peak in young adulthood. It includes strength of muscles in addition to reflex time, the sensors, and the heart's function.
